1. What is VLan?

VLAN divides a single LAN into'X" number of Virtual LANs.
VLAN technology creates virtual LANs that utilize the benefits of independent Lans, while retaining access to the entire LAN.
A virtual Lan removes selected trafffic and places it within a virtual LAN
The resutl is less traffic on the entire LAN

2. What is Trunking?

The benefit of Trunking is to be able to group multiple lower speed links into one higher speed link. For example, 4 Full-Duplex 100/10Mbps ports operating as four 200Mpbs links can be used as a single 800Mbps link.
This is very useful for Switch to Switch, Switch to Server, and Switch to Router applications.

3. What is Broadcast Storm?

This option allows the user to limit the amount of broadcast traffic into the Switch.
User can program the threshold that triggers broadcast frame filtering.

4. What is the difference between Layer2 and Layer3 Swtiching hub?

There are 7 network Layers-
1. Physical
2. DataLink
3. Network
4. Transport
5. Session
6. Presentation
7. Application
The only difference between Layer 2 and Layer 3 is that Layer3 switching hub support IP routing function.
