INS500

The INS500 is a single chip integration of a complete five port Fast Ethernet switch, and a 1 Mbit frame buffer memory. It is designed for cost-sensitive low port count switch systems. Each port can be automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover for 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T.

The PHY units in the INS500 are comply fully with the applicable sections of IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, and IEEE 802.3x standards.

The shared memory-based switch fabric uses Marvell’s latest switch architecture that provides non-blocking switching performance in all traffic environments. Back pressure and pause frame-based flow control schemes are included to support zero packet loss under temporary traffic congestion. The lookup engine allows for up to 4,096 active nodes to be connected with the switch.
